There are only two things that one should do to keep a healthy and fit body, eating right and exercising well. All the rest of the tips are just to see that you stay on track.
Eating right means not dieting or starving but getting the right amount of nutrition from the right kinds of food. Foods that give your body a balanced supply of all the essential food groups is a major focus. It has been said over and over again in most fitness and diet articles and these are still the most important factors to a healthy lifestyle
1. Get lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.
2. Avoid fried food and junk food.
3. Eat small and frequent meals at regular intervals instead of 2 or 3 large meals.
4. If you are also trying to lose weight then watching your portion sizes is important.
5. See that you get a balanced diet of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
6. There are foods that can help you lose weight, like fruits rich in Vitamin C, watermelons, berries, apples etc...
You might have the best diet plan but if you are sitting down and eating there is nothing much you can do about staying fit. A good exercise program is a must to stay fit and keep that metabolism going. If you are one of those people who start off enthusiastically but end up at square one after a couple of visits to the gym, it might be good to try out a different type of exercise once you see your interest waning. Try walking or jogging in your neighborhood, then a visit to the gym for a couple of days, biking with your friends over the weekend. Anything can be good as long as you are not a couch potato.
Motivation comes from within. If you have someone who can encourage you then it might add to your enthusiasm. You should have the will to change your lifestyle and stay fit and only that can get you going on a healthy lifestyle.
