#3 How To Keep Your Body Fit And Healthy

It appears that everyone you talk to these days is unhappy with the body. It is either too fat or too thin. I can understand that, since I became ill a few years ago. During that time I gained a lot of weight while waiting to recuperate. Even so, the issue is not whether one is too thin or to fat, but whether one is healthy.

We all would be better off worrying about being fit and healthy rather than what we look like to other people. Everyone wants to look good, so it would make more since to try to stay healthy and eat right. The majority of the time, if one is eating right and getting the right amount of exercise will be healthy. They may even be a little overweight or underweight according to hereditary factors among other things.

In order to be fit and healthy, one needs to be aware of what they are putting into their body. Are you eating what is healthy for you or are you eating take out food on the run?

It will make a big difference in ones health. Our bodies need a certain amount of fat, carbohydrates, protein, and even some sugar. Our bodies need many vitamins and minerals that we sometimes cannot get from or diets. That is why it is important to take a good one a day vitamin. There is so much information on the internet. One can find what they need. The best thing to go by is the food pyramid. Dietitians have recommended the food pyramid for many years. You could also just ask your doctor’s office for a dietary list of do’ and don’ts.

Staying fit and healthy depends on more than just one’s diet. Yes; there is a need for healthy food, vegetables, and fruits. But, one has to also take care of their body in other ways. The body was not meant to be immobile. It was meant to move around. Do you remember your grandparents being able to eat anything years ago and still be healthy? More than likely, that was because they got up at daybreak and worked hard. Men and women both were healthy. Unless they became ill, they lived to be a ripe old age. In those days people went to bed at sundown and arose at sunrise. In between they worked hard, men and women alike.

A lot of us today have allowed our bodies to become flabby and overweight. We become frustrated because we cannot figure out what the problem might be. If we think about all the modern conveniences, it is not hard to understand how much less activity our bodies are getting. Doing laundry requires less work. Washing dishes is easier. We can even push buttons to cook our meals
if we want. That cuts down on a lot of activity. Not to mention the work that it takes to have a garden. How many people today do you know, has a garden. Lifestyles have changed, therefore it will take more exercise and other activities to get and keep the extra weight off. Finding things to do besides watching television or playing games are just 2 of the things that need changed in most of our life.

Most doctors suggest starting out with 30 minutes of walking. Walking is the exercise that is easier than any for almost anyone at any age. That may not be enough for some to lose weight. It will be different for each of us. After your body is use to 30 minutes, increase your walking time by 10 minutes until you start to lose weight. If you are physically able, it would help to do some type of exercises. Some of us need both. That is something that will vary according to the person and their health. It is also a good idea to put a little stretching into the mix also. Stretching before walking or exercise will help keep one from straining a muscle or tendon. It is also wise to stretch after exercise or walking for the same reason.

If you are 55 or over as I am, it is suggested that you work out according to what you are able to do. I have many things wrong with my body, the most severe being arthritis. The best thing for one who is in pain, is to take Tylenol before walking. Walking is an overall body exercise. It is all we need. It may take longer for those of us who are 55 or over to lose weight, but I guarantee you will lose. Just so you will not grow discouraged, be sure and measure, such as under bosom, waist, hips, even arms and legs. You will be surprised at how many inches you will lose before you ever lose pounds. It is a big encouragement which will give you the push you need to keep up the hard work.
